This policy covers the Clearbyte website at www.clearbyte.com, including its contact, instructor request and SMS opt-in forms, and the Clearbyte SMS messaging program.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information you choose to send us, plus basic technical records described below.

• Contact form: your name, email address, and message.
• Instructor request form: your name, institution, work email address, course and term, approximate number of students, the lab you are interested in, and any notes you add.
• SMS opt-in: your mobile phone number and your consent to receive messages. To keep a record of that consent, we also store the date and time you opted in, the IP address the request came from, your browser's user agent, and the consent wording shown to you.
• Access logs: like most websites, our hosting records each request made to the site, including the IP address, the page requested, the referring page, the browser user agent, and the time.

We do not share or sell your phone number to third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

Contact and instructor request details are used only to reply to you and, where you ask, to set up Clearbyte for your course. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Clearbyte uses your phone number to send important updates, AWS lab notifications, and other relevant messages. These messages may include service updates and reminders. Message frequency may vary.

Access logs are used to operate and secure the site and to understand, in aggregate, how people find it.

3. Cookies and Tracking

The Clearbyte website does not set cookies. It does not use analytics services, advertising networks, social media pixels, or any other third-party tracking, and it does not load scripts, fonts, or other content from third parties.

Your browser may temporarily store your scroll position for the current tab so the back button returns you to the same place. This is cleared when you close the tab and is never sent to us.

4. SMS Opt-In and Consent

By providing your phone number and opting in to receive messages, you consent to receive SMS notifications from Clearbyte. Standard message and data rates may apply. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of using Clearbyte.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

5. SMS Opt-Out and Help

You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Once you opt out, you will no longer receive further messages unless you opt in again. Reply HELP to any message for help.

6. How Long We Keep Information

• Messages sent through the contact and instructor request forms are delivered to us by email and kept in our email records for as long as needed to respond to you and support your course.
• SMS consent records are kept for as long as you remain opted in, and afterwards for as long as needed to show that consent was given.
• When a form is submitted, the request is also written to our application logs, which are deleted automatically after one day.
• Access logs are stored with our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your phone number and personal information. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Service Providers

The website, its forms, and our email delivery run on Amazon Web Services, and messages you send us are received in our email service. We may use third-party SMS providers to send messages. These providers process information only to provide their service to us and are required to maintain the confidentiality and security of your information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

9. Your Choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address below. To stop SMS messages, reply STOP to any message.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
